SEOUL, KOREA - Games account for about a half of LINE's sales, while 30 percent of its sales stem from stamps. By country, Japan accounts for 80 percent of its sales.
At a conference call held on May 9, an NHN official said, "Our mobile messenger LINE generated sales of 68.4 billion won for the first quarter of this year. Among LINE's total sales, the share of games accounted for more than a half."
The official added, "In terms of yen figure, this figure represents about a 90-percent growth. If calculated on the basis of won, LINE's sales grew by about 60 percent."
Presently, LINE has more than 150-million subscribers. LINE is placing focus on expanding its user base rather than pursuing profitability. LINE aims to increase the number of its subscribers up to 300 million by the year's end.
LINE originally aimed to increase its subscribers up to 200 million by the end of this year but revised its target upward, backed by its robust growth trend.
