SEOUL, KOREA - Hyundai Motor's Jeonju assembly plant saw its truck sales decline in terms of both volume and market share.
Hyundai Motor's Jeonju plant announced on May 22 that the sales of its flagship item five-ton trucks stood at 650 in April 2013, down 25 percent from a year ago. The sales of large trucks also fell by 14 percent to 520 units.
Its share in Korea's five-ton truck market fell by 12 percentage points to 68 percent in April 2013 from 80 percent a year ago, while those in large truck market also fell by 5 percentage points to 56 percent. This is the poorest performance since May 2012.
Hyundai Motor blamed the disappointing results on the decline in production volume, caused by the refusal of its assembly-line workers to work on weekends.
