Friday, July 19th, 2013
SEOUL, KOREA - Following SK Telecom, LG U+ succeeded in commercializing LTE-A service on July 18.LG U+ announced on the same day that it commercialized LTE-A service using CA technology and will release Galaxy S4 LTE-A devices.

CA is a new technology that combines and uses different frequency bands, making data download speed 1.5 times faster than the existing wireless Internet, two times faster than LTE and ten times faster than 3G.

The maximum transmission speed is 150 Mbps that enables a movie with 800 megabyte capacity within 43 seconds. Unlike those offered by its rival, LG U+’s LTE-A service supports not only data but voice.

Compared to existing services where voice and text use CDMA and data use LTE, the LG U+’s LTE-A service offers voice, text, and data all in a single LTE network.

An LG official said, “The call connection time improved to 0.25-2.5 seconds, about 20 times faster than existing telecommunications networks. Moreover, our LTE-A service allows users to enjoy HD-level voice talks.”
