SEOUL, KOREA – Samsung Electronics said Tuesday that its printers have been selected as the “best products” and the “best energy-saving products” by Buyers Lab (BLI), an independent office-equipment testing lab in the US.
A total of six models, color, mono, laser printers and multi-function printers, were chosen. The Samsung™ CLP-680 Series (a color laser printer) and the Samsung clx-6260FD/FW (a multi-function printer) have received two accolades from BLI: the Best Products for the first half and the Best Energy-saving Products for the second half.
Buyers Lab put printers under the microscope in categories like energy use, printer performance when using recycled paper, toner capacity and annual maintenance costs.
“BLI’s “Outstanding Achievement in Energy Efficiency” award honors devices that exceed expectations and raise the bar in regards to energy consumption and general environmental performance. In BLI’s tests, it was found that Samsung’s color, laser, multi-function printers used 52% less power annually than comparable A4 color MFPs,” said BLI Test Technician Joe Tischner.

삼성 프린터, 미국 BLI로부터 `최고 제품` `최고 에너지 효율 제품` 선정
삼성전자는 자사 프린터가 미국의 사무기기 전문 평가기관인 바이어스랩(BLI)으로부터 `최고 제품`과 `최고 에너지 효율 제품`으로 선정됐다고 23일 밝혔다.
대상 제품은 A4 컬러•모노 레이저 프린터와 복합기 등 총 6개 모델이다. 컬러 레이저 프린터/복합기(CLP-680시리즈, CLX-6260FD/FW)는 상반기 `최고 제품` 선정에 이어 하반기에 `최고의 에너지 효율 제품`에 선정됐다.
바이어스랩은 실제 사무 환경과 동일한 조건에서 에너지 소비량, 재생 용지 사용시 출력 성능, 토너 용량, 연간 사용 비용 환산 등을 평가했다. 조 채스너 바이어스랩 연구원은 “삼성전자의 컬러레이저 복합기는 경쟁 모델 대비 연간 에너지 소비량이 최대 52% 적으면서도 최신 친환경 기능을 갖춘 제품으로 환경을 중시하는 소비자에게 완벽한 솔루션을 제공한다”고 밝혔다.
지난 4월 국내에 출시한 모노 레이저 프린터/복합기(M2825/M2875시리즈)와 모노 레이저 프린터(M4020ND)는 제품 성능 평가에서 각각 `최고의 개인용 모노 레이저 프린터`와 `최고의 개인용 모노 레이저 복합기` `최고의 소규모 기업용 모노 레이저 프린터`로 선정됐다.
이들 제품은 삼성 반도체가 맞춤 개발한 600MHz CPU와 코어텍스 A5(Coretex A5) 프로세서를 탑재해 많은 양의 문서를 빠른 속도로 처리한다. 또한 분리형 토너 타입을 적용해 인쇄량에 맞춰 프린터 유지비용을 낮출 수 있다.
