iPad Sees Market Share Fall to below 30% in Tablet PC Market

SEOUL, KOREA- Apple’s iPad saw its market share fall to below a 30-percent level in the tablet computer market. It was the first time for Apple’s iPad to achieve less than a 30-percent market share in the tablet computer market.A U.S. market research firm Strategy Analytics has released data concerning the global sales of tablet PCs by operating system for the second quarter of this year.

Apple’s iPad was sold 14.6 million units, grabbing a market share of 28.3 percent. Since Apple released iPad first in April 2010, its market share has consistently stayed over 30 percent.

In 2010, Apple’s iPad commanded a market share of 79.2 percent on an annual basis. Its market share, thereafter, has declined to 52.7 percent in 2011 and 38.4 percent in 2012.
