The immigration authority said it was largely due to an increase in the outbound traveler numbers who took trips during the summer vacation. Of the outgoing travelers in July, the number of Korean nationals was 1,079,703, up 7.0 percent from the same month last year when it was 1,004,400. The number of inbound foreign travelers rose 2.0 percent.
On July 28, the number of passengers who moved in and out of the airport was 128,626, breaking the daily passenger number record. The Korea Immigration Service said the daily passenger number is expected to hit another record level on August 4 when more tourists depart and arrive at the airport during the summer peak season.
