SEOUL, KOREA - NCsoft’s North American Studio ArenaNet disclosed a hero edition on August 22 to celebrate the first anniversary for the releasing of Gild Wars II. With a new box design, the hero edition is added with three new in-game items and uses existing game client.
The hero edition is set to be sold at the price of US$49.99 on August 28 in the United States and on August 30 in Europe.
According to a survey conducted jointly by ArenaNet and market research firm DFC Intelligence, Gild Wars II was named as the fastest-selling MMORPG in North America and Europe. It broke the 3-million mark in sales in just nine months after being released in these markets.
A DFC Intelligence official said, “As a result of the analysis of many data sets, we found that Gild Wars II was the fastest-selling MMO in North America and Europe on the basis of the past nine month records. If it is released in China, we expect the game to grab an impressive position in the Chinese game market.”
