SEOUL,KOREA- The sales of BMW 520d is growing at a robust pace. It was sold 6,744 units so far this year and is likely to pass last year’s total of 7,485 units. If this trend continues, it’s also likely that it would be able to surpass the 10,000 mark in annual sales this year, first as a single model among import cars. The 520d is playing a pacesetting role in the growth of overall sales of import cars in the Korean market. In a situation where 520d is selling well, BMW released another new model on September 25.

BMW rolled out a New 5 Series 6G facelift that consists of nine models, including a 520d four wheel drive (xDrive) model. The lowest price is set at 62.9 million won.

By releasing a string of new models, including diesel 520d and gasoline 528, BMW Korea aims to solidify its leading position in the domestic import car market.

The 520d is expected to become the bestselling import car for two straight years since the gap with the runner-up Mercedes-Benz E300 is wide. BMW’s overall sales in Korea grew by about 20 percent this year, led by the popularity of 520d.
