SEOUL, KOREA - CJ O Shopping, a CJ Group company specializing in retailing through TV home shopping channels, catalogs, and the Internet shopping mall, will now expand to the bookselling business.
The company said on November 18 that it would open on the 19th a new online bookstore "O's Books." The bookstore will have a library of 500,000 books, with an e-book service to be launched in December this year.
Until now, CJ O Shopping has provided the bookselling service through online booksellers such as Yes24 and Aladdin. This is the first time, however, for the company to set out a standalone bookselling service.
Sung Jung-hyun, CJ O Shopping executive responsible for Internet retailing, said, "Based on the know-how of the TV home shopping business, we will specialize in children's book category." To celebrate the launch of the bookselling service, CJ O Shopping will hold a promotional event in which it gives away 1,000 CJ One points for those customers purchasing books worth more than 30,000 won and a free coffee coupon for those buying more than 40,000-won books.
