SEOUL, KOREA - Google’s smartphone Nexus 5 is bringing about a great sensation in the Korean smartphone market.The Nexus 5, which was sold from last weekend, shot up to the top-five sales ranking in Korea.
With features emulating premium smartphones like Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the Nexus 5 is available at a competitive price of 400,000 won, about a half of the prices of premium smartphones.
The Nexus 5, which was sold at the outlets of telecom companies from November 21-22, ranked No. 5 in sales terms in the first week of its sales. It over took LG Electronics’ first curved smartphone G Flex and Pantech’s strategic phone Secret Note.
Given that the Nexus 5 is a reference phone with small initial volume and spent no marketing costs, it is expected to have achieved an outstanding sales performance. The Nexus 5 is a Google Android 4.4 Kit Kat smartphone made by LG Electronics.
