Pyongchon, Gyeonggi - LG U+ announced on March 3 that it is now engaged in the construction of Asia’s largest Internet data center in Pyongchon in Gyeonggi Province.

With a land space of 17,282 square meters, the LG U+ Pyongchon IDC will include three underground floors and seven floors above the ground. The IDC will have a total floor space of 85,547 square meters, with the space for the installation of servers estimated at 27,768 square meters, the largest of its kind in Asia.

The construction is scheduled to be completed by July 2015. The IDC will consist of high-density, high-integration server racks. The per-rack electric power averages at 10 kW, far higher than the average of other IDCs that is between 2.2 and 2.3 kW.

The IDC, accordingly, can accommodate blade servers that need high electric power for cloud computing. An LG U+ official said, “We will actively attract major companies from all around the world into our IDC which is the largest in Asia.”
