SEOUL, KOREA - Hyundai Motor issued a written apology, making a modification to the fuel efficiency of LF Sonata 2.0 which is set to be released on March 24.

The company announced on March 17 that the fuel efficiency of the Sonata 2.0 gasoline model (automatic transmission) is certified officially at 12.1 kilometers per liter through the government’s certification procedures.

This level of fuel efficiency is slightly lower than the 12.6 kilometers per liter identified at the product presentation data presented on March 4 during the media preview event for the new Sonata.

Hyundai Motor said that the figure of 12.6 kilometers per liter is its lab’s in-house non-official test result that was disclosed to the public during the preview event. During the event, Hyundai Motor stressed that the fuel efficiency of the new Sonata improved despite the increase in the weight of the frame. The weight of the new Sonata increased as a part of an effort to improve the driving performance and safety of the vehicle.
