SEOUL, KOREA - Korea's online shopping mall operators are enjoying a rise in orders from overseas. Lotte.com said on March 30 that the number of overseas orders on its newly opened global page has surpassed 1,000 in February. Of these, orders from China accounted for the largest share of 38 percent, followed by Hong Kong (15%) and the United States (11%). The average order amount per transaction was 220,000 won, more than double that for domestic orders of 100,000 won.

According to a Lotte.com official, its multi-language service on the retail site has received good reviews from the users. Any user who places an order on Lotte.com's global page can receive packages through Korea Post's express delivery service or DHL. Currently the countries available for delivery are 19 including the United States, China, Japan, and Hong Kong. The global page offers a total of 700,000 items in 2,000 brands for sale.

The amount Korea's online retailers have sold overseas has increased rapidly since last year on the back of the Korean Wave. The overseas sales revenue of eBay Korea last year was 210 billion won, up 31 percent from 160 billion won in 2012. The English website run by G-Market has seen its sales rise 33 percent last year. Most retailers said the sales increase was largely because of clothing items and accessories featured on Korean dramas.
