
The Energy Star Award, the most renowned award in energy and environmental areas, has been held annually since 1993. The Energy Star Award is graded by the highest Sustained Excellence, the second highest Partner of the Year, and the third highest Excellence Award.
In particular, the highest Sustained Excellence can be given only to those who have an experience of receiving the Partner of the Year awards for more than two times.
After winning the Excellence Award in 2009 and 2010, Samsung Electronics received the Sustained Excellence for two straight years starting from last year. For LG Electronics, this was the first time to receive the Sustained Excellence.
In addition to the receipts of the Sustained Excellence, the two Korean companies also received the Climate Communications Award.
Samsung Electronics won the Energy Star certifications for 1,176 models in the North American market last year, while LG Electronics in 491 models.
