Hyundai Motor Slips One Notch in JD Power’s Customer Service Index

SEOUL, KOREA - In the 2014 Customer Service Index survey, conducted by JD Power of the United States, Hyundai Motor slipped by one notch compared to a year ago. The car maker achieved 798 out of 1,000 points in the JD Power’s 2014 Customer Survey Index, ranking No. 8 among 19 brands.

Compared to a year ago, Hyundai Motor achieved 4 points higher scores but its rank fell by one notch. In contrast, Kia Motors climbed up by four notches to No. 10 in 2014 from No. 14. Kia Motors achieved 796 scores, up 22 points from a year ago.

This year’s JD Power Customer Service Index was conducted with about 90,000 Americans who own or lease vehicles produced between 2009 and 2013.

In luxury brand category, GM’s Cadillac overtook Lexus which has maintained the top spot for five straight years. Cadillac achieved scores of 872 points, ranking the highest among 28 brands, followed by Audi, Lexus, Infiniti, and Lincoln.

In popular brand category, GM Buick came on top, first in its history, followed by Volkswagen, GMC, Mini, Chevrolet, and Toyota.
