Hyundai Motor plans to complete the redesign of its 6,000 dealerships by 2018 and upgrade its brand status into a premium level. It announced on July 13 that it would apply the new facility standard “Global Dealership Space Identity” for its dealer shops worldwide.
Korea’s largest car maker opened a large flagship showroom in Sao Paulo, Brazil, last month by adding the new design standards to the existing dealer shop there. In Mexico where Hyundai Motor established a business unit in May, it has applied the same design standards for 13 showrooms there.
Starting from last year, Hyundai Motor applied the GDSI for some of its domestic showrooms as well. It plans to expand the GDSI standards into about 600 facilities in and outside Korea within this year.
