
Here, it has been seen that all of competitors have dreamed the impossible dream like the man of La Mancha. As something more than a soldier, they are familiar with pen despite of their inborn warlike character. So, they have lifted up some shiny and seductive slogans, firmly believing that:
“The slogan is my unique cornerstone as well as my talisman. It will help me get the ‘Justice’ from the people.”
Then they came tripping down the smothering global theater. And they are now to be the Pretenders to the throne by exploiting the slogans. Printed by professionalism, their slogans directly and indirectly reveal their unfading hope, adamant courage, and paranoid passion, of course, with the winning spirit in the imposing Caesarian look. For the reason, the slogans are fascinating and far-out with devastating charm as if the Pretenders were descendants of the Bard of Rome, Julius Caesar. Below is the Barrack Ballad they have proclaimed with their men in a soldier’s voice vocally and unanimously so far:
“Now ‘we build excitement’
with ‘the Spirit of Performance,’
and ‘confidence in motion.’
For this, we are
in ‘the Pursuit of Perfection’
to make ‘the Best or Nothing’
with‘the Passion of Perfection.’
Then we are to ‘be the First and be the Best’
with ‘the power of dreams’
and ‘new Thinking and new Possibilities.’
Let’s ‘Drive one,’
with a ‘sheer driving pleasure.’
And let’s‘reach higher,’
‘lighting the road’
with ‘the power of engineering.’
‘Shift the way you move’
to play an ‘Inspired Performance’
with ‘Art of Progress’
for a ‘Smile for Tomorrow.’
Finally, ‘Drive earth’
to ‘Discover the Difference’
to the ‘high-end’
with ‘the power to surprise’
and ‘créative technologie’
under the ‘leadership with trust.’
Truly, this is an androcentric, haunting barrack ballad. And, it is a voucher, pick-and-mixed from the catchphrases. All the lines are simple, short and strong. (3S) Nonetheless, all the lines are filled with forceful words, magical words and tactical words as if the ballad were a military march or war cry. There is not a non-committal gesture but a forcible speech. Nobody can find out easy words, fragile words and tender words from the ballad. If so, the ballad is their forbidden but unforgettable dream. And all the punch lines are symbols of their dream. Now, the symbols are in full blossom in this earthly battlefield as if they were flying flags or pennants or banners in the sky. Under the colorful banners the world powers are full of self-reliance and paranoid passion.
Then they adamantly believe that:
“The final hot season is forthcoming soon. Also, the day of glory will arrive soon or late. But, the fortune and fame will be mine but no one else. Now is the finest hour for me as an undaunted soldier.” (Below is the cover of Barrack Ballad, named Soldier, Soldier. Source: www.classicstory.com)
Already they have crossed the River of ‘No Return.’ And now they are unhesitatingly driving their troops into the Rome of the entire (auto) world. Then they are to translate their incandescent dreams into action with their mobile forces. Currently, those are underway as their hyperactivity.
“Time Spirit”
Right here, the Time Spirit (zeitgeist)is seen because all the slogans are the signs, fit for their hidden design. Seemingly, the signs sound to be soldierly, entrancing and full of magniloquence. However, the signs are admittedly ‘denuded designs.’And the designs are made to cover up their greedy and warlike mindset.
Now the signs and denuded designs alternate with each other. And the quite different, ambivalent things have been presented to the people with the readable logos. Nonetheless, their naked heart is elsewhere, but not over there. Frankly, all the alluring slogans are merely the tip of the iceberg of representing their hidden black mindset. In other words, the slogans indirectly speak that competitions are fiercely brutal and desperate for survival.
In the past, the Scottish warrior, William Wallace, shouted out ‘Alba gu Bràth’(Scotland forever) at the front of the lines of soldiers. It was a rallying call to invoke fighting spirit to Scottish soldiers. Like his shouting, all the swashbuckling slogans are no other than battle cries. Right, all of them are simply ‘duels of wits’ among the world powers as punch lines.

“Porcupine Dilemma”
In fact, all the pretending rivals have successfully masked their personal zeal and begun to spread out their ambition under the tumid slogans. Then they have marched on the warpath to be the very Champion in the name of human beings’ welfare. At first glance, all the competitors are go-getters, nice-looking, righteous, and trustworthy with beaux gestes. So, they look favorable and cooperative between the rivals. However, such gentle modes are simply stripped-pants diplomacy. The slogans are not their real face. It is simply seeming face. Those are all seeming face or shell (Tatemae, 建前in vernacular Japanese language). They are merely image advertising tools. Their hidden agenda (Honne, 本根in Japanese) is different. Their inhibited mind is full of careerism mixed with Machiavellism. Thus, their Honne is not the same as their seeming face.
In short, Honne is quite different from Tatemae. Their mind is still over there. That is, in a word, to win the victory after victory in this world Cup Game. That is Honne and their realistic goal. It is an undeniable fact in this exorable world. Therefore, the drooly slogans are seeming Tatemae, but not Honne. Their hidden agenda is the ultimate victory in this Olympic Game.

Of course, other rivals were not exception at the time. In this point, most of all the competitors were and are all the same. Yes, it is true. Here is an evident fine example.
