SEOUL, KOREA - Hyundai Elevator said on July 20 that it signed a contract worth US$13.1 million with Turkey's Dogus Group to supply 238 escalators and elevators to be installed in the Istanbul metro stations. The Korean company will install 189 escalators and 49 elevators in 16 stations between the M5 Uskudar-Cekmekoy rapid transit line that spans 16.9 kilometers.

The company expects that the latest deal will help it secure other projects in Turkey. The City of Istanbul plans to build 250 metro stations in 700-kilometer lines by 2024. A company official said, "Istanbul Ulasim, the city's subway operating company, plans to install platform screen doors and we are preparing to submit tenders for the project."

Separately, the Hyundai Group company recently won a $5.8-million order to supply 351 elevators to a large-scale commercial-residential complex in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
