SEOUL, KOREA - Gamevil achieved record high sales in the first half of this year. The company revealed on August 6 that it recorded sales of 33.2 billion won for the second quarter of this year, with its first half sales estimated at 61 billion won, up 62 percent and 61 percent, respectively, from a year ago.
The company saw its quarter and half-year sales both reach an all-time high.Led by its popular games such as “Become a Star” and “Isamanru 2014 KBO,” Gamevil’s domestic sales more than doubled, leading the overall sales growth.
Gamevil, however, suffered a negative growth in operating profit. It posted operating profit of 2.2 billion won in the second quarter and 6.0 billion won in first half of this year, a decrease from a year ago.
The company blamed the negative profit growth on the increase in commission resulting from the increase in sales through a mobile messenger platform. Gamevil plans to make bigger forays into the global market in the second half by releasing a string of new mobile games based on its in-house mobile platform.
