SP Technology Co.,Ltd’s high-sensitive luminance meters promise more accuracy in display quality testing
Friday, September 12th, 2014

SP Technology Co.,Ltd, a S. Korea-based developer of display measurement systems, has succeeded in independently developing high-sensitive luminance meters (the HyperSensitive Colorimeter CM-H505 and the CM-T505), thus catching the eyes of the S. Korean display industry, which has been thus far heavily dependent on imported luminance meters.

The CM-H505 and the CM-T505, luminance meters developed independently by SP Technology Co.,Ltd

The emergence of the HyperSensitive Colorimeter CM-H505 and the CM-T505 enables the combination of display testing and measurement systems in the fields of display testing, measurements, measurement systems, therefore helping the domestic display industry wean itself off its heavy dependence on imported luminance meters. By doing so, the CM-H505 and the CM-T505 will deliver a user-oriented environment and greater convenience in display quality testing.

The HyperSensitive Colorimeter CM-H505 works in a similar way to the Konica Minolta CA-310 Display Color Analyzer (or the Konica Minolta CA-210): it takes measurements in direct contact with the display screen.

In particular, its flicker measurement function supports VESA, JEIDA and the contrast modulation method that has been adopted by Konica Minolta.

The HyperSensitive Colorimeter CM-T505 does its job with the display screen 100mm ~ 1,000 mm away. This device works in a similar fashion to the Topcon SR-3A (Japan), the Konica Minolta CS-2000 and the Photo Research PR-740 (the US).

Technology-wise, the CM-T505 promises higher speeds, more accuracy and a wider measurement range in display quality testing, color calibration and color tests: it delivers ±0.5% (Lv), 0.001(x,y) in iterative precision, ±2% (Lv), 0.003(x,y) in accuracy and 0.001cd/m2 ~ 99,000cd/m2 in luminance measurement range.

What’s more, in contrast to imported luminance meters that need to be plugged into a nearby electrical outlet, the CM-T505 can run for eight straight hours on a single battery charge. Furthermore, the CM-T505 can be controlled via a smartphone app, so it definitely excels in portability and user friendliness, according to SP Technology Co.,Ltd.

“Our products will address the inconveniences experienced by Korean display manufacturers using foreign-made luminance meters. Users of foreign-made luminance meters have to send them back to the foreign manufacturers when the meters break down or need repairs. They have to wait 1-3 months before they get their devices back. Since there were no domestic replacements available, Korean display manufacturers had to stop all the color calibration work during the wait times. Hence I believe that our products will promise Korean display manufacturers uninterrupted display quality testing.” Said Park Yong-jin, CEO of SP Technology Co.,Ltd
