SEOUL, KOREA - Samsung Electronics' strategic smartphone Galaxy S4 passed the 10-million mark in sales in just one month after release. In other words, as many as four Galaxy S4's have been sold per second worldwide.

This is faster than its previous model Galaxy S3 which passed the 10-million sales milestone in 50 days after launch. It took five months for Galaxy S2 and seven months for Galaxy S to reach the 1-million level.

Galaxy S4, which was released in Korea first on April 26, is now selling in 60 countries worldwide. Samsung Electronics plans to expand the outlets up to 155 countries and 327 telecom companies within the first half of this year.

Galaxy S4's record-breaking sales were attributable to the expansion of distribution networks in the U.S. Prior to launching Galaxy S4, Samsung Electronics established Samsung Experience Stores in a shop-in-shop format inside Best Buy, the largest electronic retail chain in the U.S.

Galaxy S4 is also drawing a good response in China and Europe where smartphones are becoming popularized at a rapid pace.
