SEOUL, KOREA – Matchmaking service app “Otgit” has rapidly found favor with users. Amid myriads of matchmaking apps in service, the number of “Otgit” users has risen sharply.
YD Online said Thursday that Otgit, a mobile SNS developed by User Story Lab, finished first in the App Store, posting over 500,000 downloads in Google Play.
Otgit came out on top in the App Store’s social networking app category on May 13, a day after its launch. Otgit opens, on average, 20,000 chatting rooms a day.
Otgit helps users find their compatible date partners by recommending people of the opposite sex in consideration of age, sex, location and etc. If the user sends a “heart” to one of the recommendees of his or her choice and then the chosen recommendee sends a “heart” back, a chatting room just for the two will be created.
User Story Lab, led by Jeong Yoon-ho, is a venture firm that has provided mobile social networking analysis services such as User Story Book and Tweetmix.
YD Online said, “Otgit will further expand to match users with those who share the same hobbies, work and interests.”

인연찾기 앱 `옷깃` 상승세 심상찮다
인연 찾기 애플리케이션(앱) `옷깃`의 반응이 심상치 않다. 수많은 인연 찾기 앱들이 서비스 중인 가운데 가파르게 사용자수가 상승하고 있어 향후 행보에 관심이 쏠린다.
와이디온라인(대표 신상철)은 유저스토리랩(대표 정윤호)이 개발한 모바일 소셜네트워크서비스(SNS) `옷깃-새로운 친구를 찾아요`가 앱스토어 1위, 구글플레이 50만건 이상 다운로드를 기록했다고 23일 밝혔다.
옷깃은 지난 13일 출시 후 하루 만에 앱스토어 소셜 네트워킹 분야 1위를 달성했다.
서로 마음이 통하면 열리는 채팅창은 하루 평균 2만개에 달한다. 지난 21일에는 사용자가 몰리면서 서버가 마비돼 급히 증설하기도 했다.
옷깃은 간단한 클릭 한 번으로 스쳐간 인연을 찾아주는 앱이다. 위치, 나이, 성별을 고려해 자신에게 맞는 인연을 추천해주고 그 중 마음에 드는 상대에게 `하트`를 보내는데, 상대도 옷깃을 이용하다가 자신도 상대에게 하트를 보내면 둘만의 채팅창을 열 수 있다. 양방향 모두 원했을 경우에만 만남이 이뤄지는 매칭 시스템이 특별한 인연을 원하는 싱글들의 마음을 설레게 한다.
유저스토리랩은 태터앤미디어에서 블로그 `티스토리`를 기획한 정윤호 대표와 관련 개발팀이 뭉친 벤처다. `트윗믹스` `유저스토리북` 등 모바일 소셜 네트워크 분석 서비스를 제공해왔다. 기존 인연 찾기 앱들과 달리 새로운 형태의 서비스로 차별화한다는 전략이다.
와이디온라인 측은 “지금은 남녀 커플 매칭으로 인기를 끌고 있지만 앞으로는 취미, 업무 등 관심사가 같은 사용자들끼리 잇도록 확장할 계획”이라고 말했다.
