SEOUL, KOREA - Samsung Electronics announced on June 3 that its 2013 Smart TV F8000 and environment-friendly monitor S23C200B won the "Green Product of the Year" Awards from the Green Purchasing Network.
The Green Purchasing Network is a group of consumer and civil rights organizations that was established to drive consumers toward purchasing environment-friendly products, thereby contributing to solving environmental problems.
Samsung's Smart TV F8000 uses an LED backlight that enhances luminescence efficiency by about two times without using harmful mercury. The Smart TV F8000 also uses less LEDs, thereby saving electricity consumption by 43 percent.
The power consumption of the 55-inch F8000 model is 75.5 watts, 56 watts lower compared to 131.5 watts for the previous model released three years ago. The S23C200B monitor also uses no-mercury backlight, thereby reducing electricity consumption and stand-by electricity by 51 and 83 percent, respectively, compared to its previous version released three years ago.
