SEOUL, KOREA – South Korean telecom operator LG U+ has jumped on the bandwagon of LTE-A commercialization. On Thursday, LG U+ kicked off its LTE-A service by releasing the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A, which offers all the services - voice calls, text messages and data- via LTE-A.
LG U+ underlined the fact that it has launched the world’s first “100% LTE” based on its world-class LTE networks.
LG U+’s LTE-A service is currently available in large cities nationwide, including Seoul, Incheon, Daejeon, Jeju and Chungcheong. LG U+ plans to expand its LTE-A coverage across the nation within the third quarter of this year. In order to provide subscribers with faster and sustainable data services, LG U+ will continue to increase the number of its base stations in the 2.1 GHz spectrum.
LG U+ will launch six LTE-A smartphones by the end of this year, including the LG G2, slated for launch in August. And LG U+ plans to make sure all of the 15 smartphone models, scheduled to be launched next year, deliver “100% LTE” services.

LG유플러스, 세계 최초 `100% LTE` 상용화
LG유플러스가 롱텀에벌루션 어드밴스트(LTE-A) 상용화 대열에 합류했다. LG유플러스는 18일 데이터는 물론 음성과 문자를 모두 LTE로 이용하는 `갤럭시S4 LTE-A`를 출시, LTE-A 서비스를 개시했다.
LG유플러스는 세계 최고 수준의 LTE 네트워크를 바탕으로 세계 최초로 100% LTE 서비스를 구현한 것이라며 의미를 부여했다.
LG유플러스 LTE-A는 현재 서울과 경기북부, 인천•대전•광주 등 광역시, 강원•충청•전라•제주 등 주요 도시 지역에서 이용 가능하다. LG유플러스는 3분기 내 전국으로 서비스 범위를 확대할 방침이다. 이와 함께 LTE-A 이용자에게 빠르고 안정적인 데이터망을 제공하기 위해 2.1GHz 주파수에 기지국을 지속적으로 추가한다.
LG유플러스는 갤럭시S4 LTE-A를 시작으로 오는 8월 LG전자 G2 등 연말까지 6종의 LTE-A 단말을 선보이고 내년 신규 출시 예정인 15종의 스마트폰 모두를 100% LTE 서비스가 가능한 단말로 출시할 방침이다.
