SEOUL, KOREA- The acquaintance-based mobile social networking service “Band,” owned by Camp Mobile, a subsidiary of Naver, passed the 1.5-billion mark in monthly app mobilizations in August, ranking No. 1 among the world's closed-type SNS.
According to the data released by the U.S. mobile log analysis firm Flurry, Camp Mobile's acquaintance-based SNS Band saw its monthly app mobilizations rise to 1.5 billion in August, up 980 percent from 170 million in January.

BAND's app mobilization number for August is 150 percent higher than the social networking app Path which has a high recognition as a global closed-type SNS. Path achieved a monthly app mobilization of 1 billion in August.

Closed-type SNS service like Band is growing at a rapid pace in and outside Korea, as user fatigue for open-type social networks grows. Band, released in August 2012, passed the 10-million mark in downloads in May 2013 and 16 million as of September 9.
