SEOUL, KOREA- Hankook Tire plans to set up an R&D center with a floor space of about 1.32 million square meters in Sangju in North Gyeongsang Province. The company announced on September 12 that it signed an agreement with the Sangju City government for the construction of Hankook Tire Test Engineering Center.
The world’s 8th largest tire company plans to invest a total of 253.5 billion won to build the R&D center in which 370 employees including engineers and test staff will work. The R&D center is scheduled to be completed by 2020.
The facility will accommodate a test driving course that will include a 30 km-long test range and a variety of facilities to test tires on various road conditions and seasonal conditions.
The center will be equipped with a One Package Process that enables automobile tire performance test, product performance test, facility test, and trial tire manufacturing. It will be designed to be able to test every type of tires, including UHP tires and those for trucks and buses.
