SEOUL, KOREA - The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transportation ordered Renault Samsung to recall some of SM5 which have ignition problems.

According to the ministry, the SM5 vehicles which are subject to recalls, have a contact problem between ignition coil wires and the internal pin of the connector which connects engine wires, thereby having a potential to cause the starting problem.

The vehicles subject to the recall are 161,700 units of SM5 gasoline and LPLi produced between October 28, 2009 and May 2, 2013.

The owners of the vehicles under recall can have free repairs at the repair centers run directly by Renault Samsung or its partner car centers from April 28. The connectors which have a potential to cause problems will be eliminated and the ignition coil wires will be connected directly with engine wires.

With respect to this recall and how to repair, Renault Samsung will inform the owners through mail. More details will be available at Renault Samsung’s Customer Service Center (080-300-3003).
