SEOUL, KOREA - WeMade Entertainment posted a record-high quarterly sales performance in the first quarter of this year. On the basis of K-IFRS financial statements, the company recorded sales of 59.5 billion won, an operating profit of 4.5 billion won, and a net profit of 5.2 billion won for the first quarter of this year.

Compared to a quarter ago, its first-quarter sales marked a positive growth of 71 percent. The company attributed its strong results to a stable growth in sales of online games, including The Legend of Mir, a steady increase in sales of existing mobile games, and the explosive growth in sales of new games including Wind Runner and Every Town.

In the first quarter of this year, WeMade Entertainment earned 36.6 billion won in the mobile game category, up 278 percent from a quarter ago. Mobile game sales accounted for 62 percent of the company's total sales in the first quarter. The robust growth in mobile game sales was driven mainly by the smash-hit Wind Runner released in late January, plus the steady increase in the sales of social networking game genre titles, including Every Town.

Even in the category of online games, WeMade expects to achieve a steady growth in sales amid growing expectations for the commercialization of its brand-new MMORPG Icarus that gained critical acclaims through a closed beta service held in early May.
